Week 9: Topic 1

Topic 1:

The only time I have had to protect someone from listening to corrupted music is either with my younger brother or when I am out in pubic. Honestly I listen to explicit rap that has many different corrupted materials in it. Stuff that I do not want my younger brother hearing and thinking its okay. Explicit language, Drug references, down talk of woman, and so on. The list doesn’t end with the rap that you hear today. Another time I had to be careful was at the gym I was playing music with a friend and a little girl with her mom came in. I had to turn the music off because I didn’t want to expose that girl to all of the explicit content. Some of the new rappers that we listen to today are becoming more and more explicit. Some of the new rappers that raises eyebrows for most people and I, are 21 Savage and XXXentacion. These rappers constantly rap about killing, shooting, drugs, sex, and more. It’s a lifestyle that some people should not be exposed to.

I didn’t really feel anything when that happened. I felt kind of bad that I was exposing that stuff to people around me but in todays society kids get exposed to everything no matter what. If a kid owns a phone, computer, tablet, or any technology, they are going to see explicit stuff they shouldn’t. Its how everything is turning out now.


My favorite music genre is Hip Hop/Rap. The artists I listen to the most are J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Rocky, Drake, and Travis Scott. These are all huge name rappers right now that you can hear or see just about anywhere. I saw Travis Scott and J. Cole in concert last year and had a blast. It was one of the best times of my life.

Topic 1: 1)          After watching the video, the first thing that really surprised me and caught me off guard was how many groups and artists have stolen the beats from older songs. When he first plays the loop of a Led Zeppelin song and the loop of a Muddy Waters song, you can tell that Led Zeppelin used some of the beats and words. Also the Rolling Stones taking some from the song “this may be the last time” recorded by a folk group in the late 50’s. These are two top bands that are widely known for their music and some of them isn’t even their original stuff. I love these bands and to see that kind of ruins the originality of their music. Week 1 Topic 2

Topic 2: My three main source of information are Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. These are my go-to resources because they are so quick and easy to access. I am also already on those websites to connect with friends. While I am on there to do that there happens to be access to many different areas that I can pick up on the latest news. People tweeting about it or posting about something that happens in the world. I log onto twitter and it pops up the top streaming topics through hashtags. It could say something like #chicagoshooting and all I have to do it click it and it takes me to tons of different areas to read about what happened. If I am watching the news or something to her this information, I have to go through commercials and wait for the juicy news details. When answering the question "How reliable is the information?" it becomes difficult. Week 1: Topic 1 (About me)

Topic 1: My name is Colton Cosner, and I have just left my two years at LBCC. My major is business and I need these last credits to complete my AAOT. I am at LBCC for baseball and have really enjoyed my time here. My career goal is to become a business owner or graphic designer one day. I am most interested in learning about the impacts that social media has on society. With how fast it is growing and how little we fully know about how it has effected us, I am excited to learn more about it. I am most passionate about baseball as my outside hobby. I played for two years at Linn Benton and am currently playing in Bend for the summer. Baseball has given me many opportunities to do great things and meet great people. It has opened doors for me, and I am excited to see where it takes me next.
